Petra Theater
The Petra Theater is one of the most important tourist attractions in Petra, Jordan, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This is where the history of its construction dates back to about two thousand years. Built by the Nabateans, the theater was greatly expanded when the city came under Roman rule after AD 106.
You can admire the ruins of this imposing theatre, with its tiers of seating cut into the face of the rock, which seated about 8,000 spectators, but much of the theater was destroyed by an earthquake in AD 363. It is possible that the Nabateans originally used theater for rituals and religious practices.
Little Petra
Little Petra is located six kilometers from the main site of Petra. It is a small valley, the slopes of which are carved with rock-carved rooms and structures like Petra in miniature.
You can walk from Little Petra to Petra on a pleasant long walk. You can also take on thrilling adventures like climbing the back slopes of a series of rock-cut stairs, to bring you to the monastery summit plateau, and there are wonderful views of the vast plains of Wadi Araba.
